FESTAC Africa Day 2022

Africa Day has become a day of celebration for Africans and people of African descent all over the world and has even morphed into Africa Month which is celebrated throughout the month of May.

In additional to Zanzibar’s Africa Day Celebration plans, Africa Day Celebration May 25th 2022 is a 1 day experience to embrace the beauty that is African music, food, fashion and culture.

The Hybrid (in person & virtual) Africa day concert & festival will be a Pan African event, featuring trailblazing stars from across the continent. Artists will perform on multiple stages across the Diaspora in an event that will be streamed to a global audience on YouTube and broadcast on Facebook. The Africa day concert will feature appearances by musical artists from across Africa and the Diaspora.

Expect to see a spectacular display of African excellence as the sounds, sights and rhythm of the continent unite Africans once more this Africa Day.

Zanzibar Tours & Activities

Stone Town is the oldest part of Zanzibar and Freddie’ Mercury’s birthplace. With beautiful architecture, winding alleyways, wonderful cuisine and traditional markets, Stone Town is well worth a visit.  Wander at your leisure or take a guided tour for an insight into the historic buildings. Whilst Stone Town has spice markets, for the real insight into the spice history, visit a Spice Plantation where you will have the opportunity to pick, smell, and savour fruits and spices which you have probably never seen on supermarket shelves.  The Jozani Forest is home to the red Colombus monkey and the even rarer Sykes monkey, as well as a wide variety of bird species.

There is an excellent nature trail showcasing Zanzibar’s impressive flora and fauna, most of which are an amazing source of natural remedies. Prison Island is a 30-minute boat ride from Stone Town and home of the protected giant tortoises. There is also a small beach here where there is an opportunity to sunbathe and snorkel. If you want to spend a marvellous day out at sea, a Sand Bank tour or Safari Blue cruise won’t disappoint and honestly, what would any visit to Zanzibar be without a Sunset Cruise on a traditional dhow?
