Complete Zanzibar’s online Public Health Surveillance Form within 24 hours before arrival.
Children travelling with a parent or guardian must also have their own form completed.
From 1 July 2026, travellers entering or leaving South Africa must complete the SARS Online Traveller Declaration before travelling.
The declaration covers Customs requirements, including goods, currency and other items carried into or out of South Africa.
A separate declaration is required for every traveller, including children and infants. Save or print the confirmation received after submission.
Visitors to Zanzibar must obtain the mandatory inbound travel insurance issued by the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation.
Apply directly through the official Visit Zanzibar website before travelling and keep your insurance confirmation available during your journey.
Effective from 1 September 2025, a mandatory conservation levy applies to excursions involving a boat ride.
This includes excursions such as Safari Blue, Prison Island, Nakupenda Sandbank, Mnemba Island and dhow cruises.
